Prevention in Malawi
Malawi’s endemic poverty and rural unemployment make it a hotspot for human trafficking. Lured by promises of employment, boys and girls from rural areas often end up in forced labor or in the sex industry.
Education, however, provides these children a different path. In one rural village, there is a primary school with 250 students. Although the majority of the village is Muslim, every teacher in this school is a follower of Jesus. Each day starts with Bible reading and prayer.
Unhappy with the religious influence, the chief pulled his children from the school, encouraging other parents to do the same. After a while, the chief noticed his children were falling behind in their studies. He apologized to the teachers and reenrolled his children. Thanks to your support, these teachers are equipped to teach with excellence, allowing the children to thrive academically, to thrive in other areas of their lives and to secure a firm foundation for their future.
We are grateful and proud to be a ministry of OM that is specifically engaging the hearts and hands of women. Thank you for partnering with us to see God move the mountains of oppression, exploitation and trafficking.
