Creativity with a Cause: Paint Night Fundraiser

Fundraising Testimony by Ramona Gliege, Freedom Challenge Participant

Imagine an evening filled with laughter, conversation, and creativity—all while raising funds to set women and children on a pathway to freedom. That’s exactly what I did when we hosted a Paint Night fundraiser, and I want to share how you can do the same!

Simple and Affordable Setup

With the help of an artist friend, we turned a simple idea into a beautiful event. Using affordable canvases from Dollar Tree and paints generously donated by our artist, we set up a welcoming space in our church, which they offered for free. (The artist donated everything, but you can purchase almost everything at the Dollar Store.) The theme? Butterflies—a symbol of transformation and hope, which also relates to the Freedom Challenge logo.

More Than Just Painting

The night was more than just a creative experience. As women painted, deep conversations emerged at their tables. They were arranged in groups of 6. I also presented and shared about our mission and the projects we support, allowing participants to feel personally connected to the cause. It was a unique way to engage hearts while engaging hands in art.

Sweet Treats & Special Touches

One of the attendees took it upon herself to make desserts for everyone, adding a warm, personal touch to the evening. Each person who contributed to the event received a tiny ticket upon payment, making the process feel official and special. And, of course, everyone got to take home their painting to remember the evening.

Fundraising That Works

We sold pre-purchased tickets for $50 per participant. I put up fliers around town- in grocery stores and churches. The interest was so great, we sold out! 50 women in total signed up. Since the space, all the painting materials, refreshments, and the lead painter herself was donated, all the ticket sales went to my fundraising goal. I raised $2,500 that night, and I gotta say, it was so much fun!

Why a Paint Night Fundraiser?

A paint night is a low-cost, high-engagement way to raise funds while building community. It provides an interactive and memorable experience while supporting a mission that truly matters.
